The Ministry of Ordinary Places by Shannan Martin | Review

This book encourages and teachers readers to examine their current situation and look for opportunities to be a blessing to others right where you are. She uses what she calls the “spiritual practice of paying attention” to wherever God has placed us to make a difference in the lives of others. Martin encourages us to look at our town, our neighbors, and see what we may have been overlooking or ignoring. We must commit ourselves to the lost art of paying attention. Our vocation is to invest deeply in the lives of those around us.

This is the second book I’ve read by Shannan Martin, and I enjoyed both. She seems so down to earth and sweet, like the kind of person I would love to be friends with. She’s not afraid to tell it all and even make herself look silly.

Shannan Martin has such a beautiful, poetic way with words. However, I felt that sometimes this meant that she rambled and tended to say the same thing over and over using different words.

Overall, I gave this book 3 our of 5 stars.
